Las Vegas Gambling Tips: Video Slots — Austin Powers

On The Town With Vegas Vic
By: Victor H. Royer

Welcome to Las Vegas! My name is Victor H. Royer, but everyone just calls me Vegas Vic. I was named after that famous neon sign in Downtown Las Vegas, that cowboy with the hat on top of the Pioneer Club, always waving his hand and beckoning to his long love, Sassy Sally, on the other side of the street. I will be writing a few articles for AccessVegas.com, so I hope you enjoy them.

Video Slots — Austin Powers

austin powers video slotsThe spy-from-the-cold, literally, has come to the casino nearest you in the form of this exciting and superbly kitsch new video slot machine game from IGT. This is a five-reel 9-line game, with all of the popular characters from the two movies which spawned this phenomenon. During the bonus rounds you will be flown back in time to an era where discos ruled and go-go boots were the height of fashion. Various clips from the two films will keep you amused as the famed Frau Farbissina keeps the game moving with her high-shrieking commands in that notoriously kitsch German accent. On top of this, the cast of the various bonus scenes changes each time you hit the bonus and so you will never tire of it because you will never know who, or what, you are about to get. Or get into.

The Fembot Bonus round starts when three Frau Farbissina bonus symbols land on reels three, four and five. Frau Farbissina yells “Bring the Fembots”, at which point the screen changes to that round and you are asked to pick a Fembot. When you choose either the left or the right of the three Fembots, either will take her machine-gun halter to shoot out the amount of your bonus win on the screen. When you pick the middle Fembot, she will release a cloud of pink gas which reveals your win once it clears.

The Faces of Austin Bonus starts when four or more of the Austin Powers (TM) symbols land on any payline. Music plays and the symbols are highlighted on the screen. You are then prompted to select one of the symbols. When you do, a film clip from one of the two movies plays and after it is finished, the screen reveals your bonus win.

The Henchman Bonus round begins when three Dr. Evil symbols land on reels one, two and three. Dr. Evil sneers, welcomes you to his lair, and the Eliminate a Henchman bonus screen appears. Here you will be asked to “Replace Credits with Multiplier”, which you do by selecting a Henchman, or more Henchmen as you are allowed by the prompts on the game. Each time you select a Henchman, he will fall back into a flaming pit and reveal that credit bonus. This value is then crossed out and a multiplier is revealed. Once you have selected and revealed all the multipliers, they are added together. Then Frau Farbissina yells “End of bonus”, and the game reveals the remaining Henchmen’s values. These credit values are then added up, multiplied by the final multiplier, and these wins added to your credit meter.

The Match Bonus round begins when you hit all five of either the Felicity or the Vanessa Kensington symbols on any active payline. This takes you to the Select and Match bonus screen where the game prompts you to select symbols. When a symbol is selected, a character appears and says a line from one of the two Austin Powers (TM) movies. When a match is made, this is highlighted on the Match and Win scoreboard. If you happen to select the Fat Bastard symbol, Frau Farbissina notifies you that you now can select only one more match and then the bonus round will be over. In addition, if you happen to uncover the Mojo symbol during this round, all of your wins are doubled.
