Texas style southwestern food is what Z' Tejas promises and boy do they deliver! From their suburban location in Summerlin, the spacious restaurant boasts some of the best south of the border appetizers and mouth watering tequila drinks. A happy hour favorite for many locals, the specials run from 3pm until close in the bar.
Starting with their fabulous weekend brunch, the restaurant serves classics like chicken fried steak and eggs, Mexican skillets and enchiladas. A fresh basket of muffins and cornbreads with whipped honey butter greets dinners as they are seated.
Complimentary mimosas and a bloody mary bar exploding with flavorful condiments are some of the not to be missed libations. Prices are between eight and twelve dollars for brunch and plates are served hot and fresh making it a great way to start the day.
The lunch and dinner offerings at Z' Tejas are also noteworthy. A starter of tortilla soup was nicely spiced with cumin and chilies and contained plenty of shredded chicken and a fresh avocado garnish. The Tejas Trio appetizer contained fresh guacamole and salsas. Also popular is an ahi tuna appetizer served with a spicy glaze.
For entrees the southwestern shrimp are one of the best offerings. Lightly spiced marinated shrimp are accompanied by black beans and a vegetable stuffed enchilada. The black beans are nicely done with just a hint of spice and the enchilada a wonderful addition. Guacamole, grilled peppers and onions and flour or corn tortillas round out the plate.
Deserts here are wonderful! A not to be missed Ancho fudge pie is topped with whipped cream and wonderful specials like the banana crème brulee we sampled made a sweet ending.
