A Letter to the Editor of Access Vegas News and Reviews (sign up to the left) asked about Las Vegas wedding experiences. We put the question out to our readers, and received a pile of wonderful responses!Read and Enjoy: D. G. McQueen wrote: Wise decision to run away and marry in Vegas. My hubby and I did it in 5/96. I have no regrets as just us two wed at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel (across from Circus, Circus). The ceremony was wonderful and tasteful. The limousine picked us up at the hotel, took us for the license and then to the chapel.. All this took about a hour and a half and cost about $300 for license fee, limo (tip), pictures, corsage, minister fee..etc. It was well worth it without the hassle of a big wedding and all the family members getting on your nerves and in your business... Just my opinion. Diane Cotton from MN wrote: My late husband and I got married in Las Vegas in 1992 at The Little Church of the West. I thought they did a great job, we got plenty of photos to choose from along with a video, flowers and the whole enchilada. I would recommend it to anyone. Darren Fine from Ft.Collins CO wrote: Hi my wife and I got married in Las Vegas 4 years ago for under 100 dollars. We got a insider tip from the kind old lady at the tourist info center at the south end of the strip, she made a call to the candlelight wedding chapel and set it up for 40 bucks! It was shocking for someone so busy to take a second and go out of there way to service 2 young strangers. She gave us instructions on who to talk to there. We set up an appointment for the same night then made our way to the courthouse and got our license for 25 dollars. Very quick, simple, and efficient, very nice romantic place. The candlelight wedding chapel is right next door to the Riviera and it was a great experience. Good luck to the young couple wanting this info. Hope it helps! We imagined the Elvis Chapel and an Elvis impersonator marrying them. Well to our surprise the wedding took place at the chapel at Treasure Island, it was very nicely done, it even included a limo ride to the court house to get your license. Since then I have been to Vegas many times and like to check out the different locations for weddings, there is a hotel right across from Hard Rock Cafe that is a non gaming hotel that has very lovely grounds for an outdoor wedding and then has a ball room that is indoors. Just about all the major hotels now have their own chapel with their own wedding planner that can take care of all your planning and can find the photographer for you. There are also some websites that have info on Vegas wedding and independent wedding consultants. Jessica Lehnert wrote: My husband and I were married at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel next to the Riviera and across form Circus Circus . They limo you to the the license bureau , take you to the chapel and you choose the type of ceremony you want . It's inexpensive. We had rings but purchased flowers and photos. Much to my regret we didn't get a video and I really wish we had. You get a temporary license and about a month later you get the official license. It was really very nice and much better than a judges office, plus you get a great place to honeymoon. The only thing strange was getting married at 9 p.m. The whole thing only took about an hour! Good luck! PS. We go back 2 or 3 times a year for a " second honeymoon ". John from NYC wrote: My wife & I got married in Little Chapel of the Flowers across the street from the Stratosphere. I'm sure the price went up in 4 years, but they gave you your moneys worth. We got a video of the service, a bouquet for my wife plus boutonnires for me & my sons (the wedding party) & limo to pick us up at the hotel. A photographer takes pictures after you're hitched. They have all different packages for that. They also can broadcast the service on the web so if someone can't get there they can still see the wedding. Its also a lot of fun if your dressed up walking through the hotel, people see your getting married, you will get a little round of applause. Lori Hunter wrote: My husband and I were married 5/31/99 in Las Vegas at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel located on the strip across from the Circus Circus. They had very reasonable wedding packages and I believe all included pictures. I think our package was one of the more expensive packages offered and it was only around $500.00. Hope this helps the reader who asked the question. Mark Carrothers of New Philadelphia, OH wrote: Me & my wife were married in Las Vegas at the Flamingo in June of 99. I think the package we had was about $175 plus a $50 tip for the minister. This was just the basic package, (no pictures, no organist, no video) because we had family there to do it. You could choose from the chapel or an outside setup. We chose the chapel & it was very nice. Took about 15 mins. Mark S. Biernacik of Orlando, Florida wrote: Please tell Max that my Wife & I highly recommend the Little White Chapel which is located on "The Strip", near the Stratosphere! We were married there a few years ago, and everything about the wedding was great! The staff was friendly & helpful, the facility was nice, the price was a bargain, and the overall package was terrific! We had a limo, photos, a video, music, flowers, and everything else all included in the price. Also........a great meal at Emeril's (Delmonico, reviewed at http://las-vegas-news-reviews.com/00-06-21.htm), and a Jacuzzi suite at Treasure Island, or Luxor after the wedding make for a fantastic day! Good luck to Max and his future bride! Sherry in Nashville, TN wrote: My husband and I got married 2 years ago in Las Vegas, and wouldn't have changed a thing. We got married at Cupid's Wedding Chapel (a nice little place) you pick your own package for whatever is right for the 2 of you. The one thing I liked most was that I dressed at the chapel, so my husband did not see my dress until I walked down the little aisle. With our package we had pictures, video. candle lighting ceremony, our first dance with the song of our choice (we brought the music) a cake for 2 (for later) flowers for the 2 of us (your choice of color) champagne bottle with your name and date of wedding on it and champagne glasses. You can also get Limo service to & from your hotel. We were very pleased with Cupid's it was a special little place but you can make it as special as you want it. Another thing we liked is that they had our pictures back the next day, we could not wait to see them. You can call and they will send you info I talked to Linda she was very helpful and assured me everything would be taken care of, and it was. Or you can call the visitor info and they can help. Good luck to the both of you in whatever you do!! Hi, my name is Darcy and here is my wedding story. When my wife and I decided to get married, it was our fantasy to wed in Vegas. Since we are living in Canada, a inexpensive chapel needed to be in our budget. My wife phoned and checked out resources and this is what we did. We found the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel had very reasonable prices starting at $169 including chapel fee, music, bride and groom flowers and nice photos. We went for the $199 package which included chapel fee, music, flowers, photos and a video. Since my wife already had a bouquet and boutonniere, it was substituted for champagne and wedding glasses. The minister fee was $50 and a chauffeur was also available. The whole ceremony was great and my wife also had the minister read a poem she wrote. The whole place was extremely helpful and everything was wonderful. Afterwards, we had rented a place called The Wedding Room At The Cellar which cost $125. It included the whole room with a chef, a dance floor and even a cake! It too was wonderful! I have to admit that one of my favorite parts of the whole day was walking the strip at 11 o'clock at night with your wedding outfits on! Anyway, that is my story in short but I am more than willing to help out anybody with pictures of the chapel or any other info that is needed. This was certainly a highlight of my life and I am so glad my wife and I did elope to Vegas. Sheri Ford wrote: My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in Vegas two months ago at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Since we had been married five years ago by a justice of the peace, we went all out. We rented a tuxedo for him ($100) and a wedding gown for me ($200), which are costly but cheaper than buying. The wedding packages are very reasonable and offer some flexibility. Ours was a little over $200 and included the following: use of the chapel, 12 photo shots (they don't develop them for you), music, witnesses (if you need them), a small bouquet of roses and a boutonniere. In addition, you will need to tip the minister. For no additional charge, they will pick you up and take you back to your hotel in a limo, but you do need to tip the driver also. The license is $35 (I think--we didn't need one) and they will take you in the limo. You can also purchase the video of your wedding (around $60) but you cannot tape it yourself or have a friend do it either. Free of charge they broadcast the wedding on a live webcam or you can request that they don't. This is nice for family and friends that can't come with you. If you want it REALLY cheap, the basic package is less than $50. If you want it REALLY fast, they have a drive through, which is actually quite nice. Regardless of what you choose, they will take good care of you there. BUT never try this on a Saturday--they are wall to wall. We loved it! and we will probably renew our vows every five years from now on. Cindy Algiere wrote: IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU EVER DID! I ran off and got married in Las Vegas for the millenium last new years eve at the wonderful "little white chapel". We wore black and white, my husband in a black suit and I wore a black velvet gown. We ran to the local grocery store before than and bought white roses and made our wedding bouquets and boutonniere. We paid the $50 for our wedding video and we bought the cheap throw away camera's from Wal-Mart and asked other people around the area to snap pictures of us. We than made our own albums and blew up larger pictures for our personal frames. They came out just as good as a photographer who costs so much money. After the 10 minute ceremony we then jumped in a taxi to the Perppermill and bought a bottle of champagne and sat around the hot flame / sofa's....very romantic. From there we than went to the famous Battista's Hole In The Wall restaurant across from Ballys. We had so much fun with great Italian music playing all night. We bought a cake from the grocery store and had doves and hearts put on it and brought it to the restaurant where they cut it up for us and shared it with people in the restaurant. From there we took a taxi to the Luxor and gambled and spent the night there. The room was inexpensive and very nice...it was so romantic and very personal...it will be something you will always remember and cherish, Large weddings are so expensive and you loose the importance and the romance in such large occasions. My husband and I still talk about it and can't wait to renew our vows doing it all over again in last Las Vegas again this New Year's Eve .... good luck to you!
