Live Dealer Online Casinos
By: Victor “Vegas Vic” Royer
OK – so what is it? An online web-based casino with “live” dealers?
If you haven’t heard about this, it’s a new thing in online casino gaming. The principle is very simple: Instead of a “computer” dealer, the “live” dealer casinos have actual REAL tables and cards, and a REAL human being dealing the game!
It works because of “streaming”. You’ve heard about that, right?
If you have Netflix, for example, then you know what “streaming” is – you long on, select the movie, click on it, and it plays right on your computer, tablet, or smart-TV.
For live-dealer online casinos, this works the same. Choose the live dealer casino you want, log in, and then simply click on the game you want to play: Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette, the three most popular games.
The computer screen works the same as with standard online casinos – you can make your bet by clicking the amount you want to wager, and then on the game you want to play.
For example, if you want to play Blackjack, and bet $5 on the next hand, simply choose your seat, and then select $5 as your bet amount, and then click the “bet” circle, or position, on the table, and thats it. In some casinos you can simplify this by just clicking the button that says “bet”, and your wager will automatically be placed in the designated spot, in the seat of your choosing.
But what’s the difference between “live” dealers and “regular” online casino games?
The “live” dealer casinos use real games, with real cards, and real dealers – and this means that you can actually see the game played in real time, as if you were in the actual casino itself, and watching the real cards and people playing. So, these games are EXACTLY the SAME as those real and live games in an actual land-based casino.
This is in contrast to the “standard” online casino games, which are dealt by computers, and this means that each “table” is only a computer program, playing to a mathematical model, and so each “deal” is simply an expression of the program’s results for that event.
For live dealer casinos, the advantage is obvious – you are playing a REAL game, which means that for games like Blackjack, each shoe is a “dependent” game. This means that each shuffle the “slug” is placed into the shoe, then a cut card for the penetration, and then the real live human dealer will deal out each hand in turn. So, this also means that you can track the cards, and even count cards. And this means that each time you play, each shoe plays exactly like a real live game of Blackjack. You can actually track the deck, and – if you’re good enough – know the composition of the cards yet to come. Just like in a real casino, on a real live Blackjack game. For more information on how to make the best of live Blackjack, I refer you to my new book: “Casino Secrets“, which is now available at Amazon as a paperback, or eBook.
This also works – to a lesser extent – on Baccarat, because in a live game, you can also track the cards as well, and make better, and more informed bets – even if you actually can’t count cards as efficiently as is possible for live Blackjack.
In Roulette, a live online casino will give you the comfort in knowing that the game is actually played with a real ball and dealer, and this means you can be absolutely confident that the results are real, and not merely a decision of a computer program.
In all of these games – and all live dealer games – the security of knowing that you are wagering on actual events, instead of only a computer program’s representation of such events, makes live online casinos a very good bet overall. Naturally, this all depends on your choice of a casino, so the best thing for your to do is to look for live dealer casino reviews to help you make the best choice.
So what are the disadvantages to live dealer casinos? Well, as with all things, there are some. For example, live dealer casinos usually have higher minimum bets. For example, in Blackjack, the live dealer casinos will usually require a minimum bet of $5. Other, standard, online casinos – those that use computer programs to simulate the games – can take any amount, even as low as 1-cent per bet, in some cases. That’s because a computerized game can have as many “tables” as players and in any amount, and so the “size” of the casino is virtually infinite. If a player wants to play 1-cent per hand, so be it. No problem for the program to instantly create another table and game, just for that customer.
And, the live dealer games are a bit slower than the standard, computer-generated games – because, of course, you’re playing a real game, with real cards, and a real dealer, and that all takes time. Just like it would in a real casino.
But live dealer casinos also have higher betting limits and spreads, and so that means that you can play on tables with a minimum bet of $5, and often a maximum bet up to $5,000 per hand. And that’s a huge advantage for Blackjack player in particular.
Another issue is Internet speed. Live casinos require you to have a great Internet connection and speed, to facilitate the “streaming” of these games. But – in most cases – that’s also no longer an issue around the world, and particularly here in the USA. And you don’t need the super-speeds either, because streaming technology has already improved so much that even basic Internet can now safely connect you to a live dealer online casino.
Can you play in the USA?
Yes, you can. And that’s another advantage. Many live dealer online casinos have made arrangements which allow them to accept US players, and US credit cards, and this means that US players can create accounts and play from within the USA, and not just in the three US States that currently offer online poker. And cashing out your winnings is also not a problem, because the latest technology allows for fast withdrawals as well.
And, finally, as US online gaming gains more and more traction, and as more US States come online with casino gaming, and poker, it will be even better and easier for you to enjoy all these games – and just think of all the practice you’ll get when you start now!
