Las Vegas Gambling Tips: Video Slots – Evel Knievel

On The Town With Vegas Vic
By: Victor H. Royer

Welcome to Las Vegas! My name is Victor H. Royer, but everyone just calls me Vegas Vic. I was named after that famous neon sign in Downtown Las Vegas, that cowboy with the hat on top of the Pioneer Club, always waving his hand and beckoning to his long love, Sassy Sally, on the other side of the street. I will be writing a few articles for AccessVegas.com, so I hope you enjoy them.

Video Slots – Evel Knievel

In keeping with the heart-pounding thrills of IGT’s new series of video slot machines, this brand new game features a host of Evel’s best jumps and bonuses. This is a five-reel 15-line game which will thrill you just as Evel Knievel’s stunts did. If you are a slot thrill-seeker, then this is the game for you. State-of-the-art 3-D video animation and actual film footage of Evel’s famous stunts will keep you spellbound in this great game.

It features a powerful symbol set, with stars and stripes adorning helmets and cycles, hearts, and Evel’s #1 symbol, in addition to animated attractions such as Evel Knievel’s (TM) EK logo, the Sky Cycle, standing and sitting “wheelies”, Evel’s Wreck symbols, and even more. The base game even boasts Evel’s own gravel-voiced quips about various hits and misses.

There are several bonuses in this terrific game. The Dare Devil Bonus starts when three of the Dare Devil scatter symbols appear anywhere on the first three reels. When you enter this bonus round, the first scene you will see is a panoramic sweep of a stadium, showing the ramps and obstacles Evel will use in his jump. When the stage is set, the camera angle shifts to show the view from Evel’s helmet-cam as he sits astride his bike at the top of the tall tower, looking down the ramp.

For the first Dare Devil bonus jump, a single Jump! Button flashes on your screen. Evel then offers you verbal game instructions and prompts you to be courageous, and take risks for the rewards. On-screen messages ask you to push the button and provide you with game strategy plans as well as jump statistics. When you push the button the engine roars and a split screen shows you three different views of the animated jump from three front row cameras. Evel then races down the ramp and takes the jump.

If he crashes, the bonus round is over and you will be paid a nice consolation win. If he lands safely, you will then be asked to press the button marked Bail! If you want to collect your winnings right then and there. Or, you can press the Jump! Button again and try for bigger wins. If you opt for the Bail! Button, you then get whatever credits you have won up to that moment and the game is over. You will also be able to see what you would have won if you had selected the second jump. Or, perhaps, you will get to see that you would have crashed on the second jump and not won anything more.

If you do take the chance and press the Jump! button for the second, third or fourth rounds, this launches Evel on progressively more perilous, and potentially more rewarding, runs down the ramp. A consolation prize is offered for any bonus-ending wreck, and another chance to Jump! or Bail! is offered after each successful jump. You can make up to a total of four jumps.

The second bonus is called the X-Ray Bonus. To get to this bonus you must first hit three or more X-Ray symbols anywhere on the reels. Once you do, the screen turns a surgical green color, high-voltage sounds zap and sizzle, and the X-Ray icons animate, revealing Evel’s broken body parts. You will get to pick one of these glowing X-Ray images, and it will reveal the amount of your bonus.

But there is also a bonus within this bonus. When you are lucky enough to pick the part which reveals the Win All symbol, then you will be paid every credit amount hidden behind every body part which you have landed on the screen.

The final, third, bonus on this game is the Reality Check Bonus. This begins when landing and take-off jump-ramp symbols align on reels two and four, on either side of a variety of jump obstacle symbols on the middle, third, reel. These can be cars, pick-up truck, tractors, busses or whatever symbols are available on the game for this bonus. A screen then pops up showing actual film footage of one of four different Evel Knievel famous jumps.

You might see Evel soaring over the Snake River, through the air at the Cow Palace, flying across Wembley Stadium in London, England, or jumping over the famous fountains in Las Vegas. After the jump the bonus win credits are added to your win total, and Evel himself congratulates you for the jump and the win.
