Texas Station has transformed Club Armadillo into the new South Padre bringing new, exciting and free entertainment acts to the stage weekly. In addition to the new name, South Padre's exterior bar opens up for customers to see lounge entertainment taking place inside the venue. The new South Padre will also feature free weekly musical acts every Friday and Saturday night.
International recording star Bertie Higgins livens up the stage every Friday and Saturday night with his island paradise sounds. He is most well-known for the hit song "Key Largo" that reached number one in the nation and went on to become an international sensation as well. Other Higgins' hits include "Casablanca," "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "Pirates and Poets." For the past several years, Higgins has toured with his group The Band of Pirates, and now finds a home at South Padre every Friday and Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Taking the stage late-night every Friday and Saturday is Anthem, the five-piece rock band hailing from Los Angeles. Anthem brings the best of the '70s to Texas Station, solely performing classic rock anthems from 1970 to 1979. The show is a multi-media experience, running in synch with video footage displayed on the South Padre walls of the original artists, historical images from the '70s and music videos. The show is produced by Jamie Brown and Roger Sause of Perfect World, Ent. who created The Boogie Knights, Spazmatics and Metalshop now known as Steel Panther, among others. Anthem revisits the 70's every Friday and Saturday night from 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Both Friday and Saturday nights, DJs will be spinning rock favorites and Top 40 hits between Higgins' and Anthem's sets. All shows are free of charge and open to adults 21 years and older with valid ID. Entry to the shows are first-come, first-served and based upon venue capacity.
