Putting a little extra jingle into the cooler months, Lake Las Vegas Resort hosts a soiree of holiday events on Friday, November 16 at 7 p.m. with their 4th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Ice Rink Opening.

Guests can embrace the season's spirit by skating on the resort's one-of-a-kind floating ice rink, whispering their holiday wishes to Santa and enjoying the serene and majestic ambiance created by the ceremonial lighting of the MonteLago Village. Free and open to the public, the cheery extravaganza also features a special performance by the Green Valley High School Choir and Helen Joy Choir, who will be filling the air with harmonious tunes and setting a festive tone.

The event also marks the official opening of a winter favorite: the signature floating ice rink. An attraction that draws attention every year, the rink can accommodate up to 60 skaters at a time, using 110, five-gallon buckets of water and a 12,000-pound chiller unit to help keep the ice cold. Accessible from Nov.16 through Feb.17 the floating ice rink is open to the public daily at a cost of $15 per person and $12 for children younger than 12 years old. In addition to the skating fun, ceremonial lighting, choir concert and appearances by Santa and his elves, the resort aims to sweeten the night even more by offering hot chocolate and fresh-made candies from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

The holiday fun doesn't end with the tree lighting festivities. Throughout the months of  November and December, carolers will be singing peace to all every Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 p.m., and Santa and his elves are available on weekends in December from noon- 4 p.m. The resort is also hosting its 2nd annual Gingerbread House Competition, this year themed with "The Holidays Around The World." Chefs are encouraged to put on their aprons and submit original holiday crafts by November 30 for the sweetest community tradition in town. Adorning the lobbies with sugar confection for all to see, the delicious crafts will be on display at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas and Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort from Dec. 1 – 22.
