The Cannery Casino & Hotel hosts a fun spin on the classic German beer festival with its 4th annual Rocktoberfest on Saturday, September 29. Combining fantastic music, great beer and delicious food in one event, Rocktoberfest is a great way to kick off the Oktoberfest season. The festival begins at 6 p.m. at The Club, an indoor/outdoor venue located at the Cannery Casino & Hotel.  Admission is $5 at the door.


This year's entertainment features two popular tribute acts: Space Oddity, David Brighton's Tribute to David Bowie, and Journey Unauthorized.  In addition to the tribute acts, Los Angeles-based rock band Sugarwall will perform and open the festivities. Along with the great music, Rocktoberfest pays tribute to Munich's longest running festival with vendors selling a wide selection of German beers and dishes. 


Space Oddity chronicles the many "Changes" in international superstar David Bowie's career, from stadium-sized pop/rock legend to rock and roll space alien Ziggy Stardust. David Bowie look-alike/sound-alike David Brighton and his band give an electrifying performance that has been considered one of the world's best tribute acts. Brighton's uncanny resemblance to the superstar garnered him roles in TV commercials with David Bowie himself, including one promoting Bowie's album "Reality."


Journey Unauthorized is a concert tribute show that provides great renditions of songs by the super group from the 1980's, leaving even the most die-hard Journey fans awestruck.  The vocals performed by Journey Unauthorized are 100% live with no backing tracks or sampling used.  The band performs the full-range of Journey's multi-part harmonies that spans the entire Journey repertoire.


The festival's opening act will be Sugarwall, a band with a sound in the tradition of old school rock acts such as the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and the Faces.  Fused with a modern edge of its own, Sugarwall delivers superbly crafted songs layered with ultra catchy guitar hooks, infectious vocal melodies, and a solid, crowd-pleasing groove.
