Balanchine is revered as the foremost contemporary chorographer of the 20th century, most known for revolutionizing the look of ballet with his blend of classical and modern styles. Nevada Ballet Theatre brings this unique type of dance to the pristine waters of Lake Las Vegas with romantic pieces such as the Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux; Who Cares?, a lighthearted mixture of classical ballet and show dancing, and the Tarantella Pas de Deux, a lively passionate Neopolitan folk dance. Adding to the elegant entertainment, Nevada Ballet Theatre will also display Le Corsaire, a well-known ballet choreographed by Marius Petipa, who is known as the "Father of Classical Ballet." Rounding out the evening's performance, Artistic Director Bruce Steivel choreographs his dancers in Coppelia, a humorous ballet about bringing a doll to life, and Romeo & Juliet, the beloved Shakespearean tale of star-crossed lovers.
