Station Casinos will host a free concert series of headline artists over the next three months, adding to the great entertainment lineup already scheduled.  Concerts venues are Ovation at Green Valley Ranch Resort, its newest entertainment venue and lounge, Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Resort and The Railhead at Boulder Station.


The free concert series features headlining bands from various musical genres and occurs through the remainder of 2007. All concerts are for adults 21 years and older.  Entry to the concerts will be first come, first serve and based upon venue capacity.


Following is the listing for the upcoming free concert series:


Green Valley Ranch Resort – Ovation Lounge


Flynnville Train


Genre: Country


Date: Thursday, October 4, 2007, at 7 p.m.


Artist Info: Flynnville Train is a five-piece country band originally formed in 2001 and signed to country star Toby Keith's music label, Show Dog Nashville, in June 2006. The band is known for its performances as the opening act for Keith's recent tour. Their first album, Flynnville Train, was released on September 11, and includes fan favorites "High on the Mountain" and a harmonious cover of the Beatles "Baby's in Black."


Scandal with Patty Smyth


Genre: 80s Rock


Date: Friday, October 26, 2007, at 7 p.m.


Artist Info:  Scandal, originally formed in 1981 with lead vocalist, Patty Smyth, released hits "Goodbye to You" and "The Warrior" before breaking up in 1984. Several members of the band reunited in June 1995 for VH1's "Bands Reunited" show and stayed together through February 2005 for an east coast tour. In 2006, several members reunited again for VH1's "We are the 80s" tour, where they played several large outdoor venues, earning critical acclaim for their performances. A reincarnation of the band as Scandal with Patty Smyth has reunited for a 2007 tour.


The Fixx


Genre: 80s pop


Date: Friday and Saturday, November 23 and 24, 2007, at 7 p.m.


Artist Info: New-wave British band The Fixx was first formed in 1980. All of the original members, but the bassist, remains in the band today. They include Cy Curnin on vocals, Adam Woods on drums, Jamie West-Oram on guitar and Rupert Greenall on keyboards. Gary Tibbs has joined the band as its new bassist. Throughout the years, The Fixx has released several albums which have included hit songs "One Thing Leads to Another," "Are We Ourselves?" and "Driven Out." In 2002, The Fixx released their cover of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" and in 2005, they released the CD, Twentyfifth Anniversary Anthology. 


John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band

Date: Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 7 p.m.


Artist Info: John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band is an American rock band that formed in the early 70s as the Beaver Brown. In 1983 they released their biggest single "On the Dark Side" from the movie and top 10 soundtrack Eddie and the Cruisers. The band has released two albums, but has seen most of its success with movie soundtracks, including the movies "Cobra" and "Rocky IV."

Artist Info: Berlin is an American new wave band formed in 1979 with its first single released in 1980. Berlin is well-known for its 1986 hit "Take My Breath Away" from the movie "Top Gun." The song received national and international fame, reaching number one in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands and a top five hit in several other countries. Other hits of the band's include "Sex (I'm A…)," "No More Words" and "The Metro." After eight years together, Berlin broke up in 1987. Lead singer Terri Nunn retained legal rights to the usage of the band's name and reformed the band with new members in 1999. In 2004, the members from the original Berlin except for drummer Rob Brill, reformed for one concert for the VH1 show "Bands Reunited."


Average White Band


Genre: R&B/Funk


Date: Friday, November 9, 2007, at 9 p.m.


Artist Info: The Average White Band (AWB) is a soul and funk band originally formed in 1971. The band is best known for its single "Pick Up the Pieces" which hit number one on the U.S. charts in 1975. Other hits include "Cut the Cake," "Let's Go Round Again," and "Nothing You Can Do." Today, AWB's songs "Schoolboy Crush" and "Person to Person," are often sampled on the turn-tables. The band currently consists of founding members Alan Gorrie and Onnie McIntyre along with Klyde Jones, Fred "Freddy V" Vigdor and Rocky Bryant. In 2006, AWB released Soul and the City, a live performance showcasing the breadth and depth of the band's material. 


Squirrel Nut Zippers


Genre: Swing/Jazz


Date: Friday and Saturday, December 14 and 15, 2007, at 9 p.m.


Artist Info: Squirrel Nut Zippers is a jazz and swing band formed in 1993. The band released its first album Inevitable in 1995 and gained momentum and airtime on National Public Radio. In 1996, they released the album Hot which caught on with the mainstream airwaves and went platinum, selling more than 1 million copies. This album was also one of the first enhanced audio discs (ECDs) ever released, which contains an interactive presentation created by filmmaker Clay Walker. The band has released several albums throughout their tenure and continues to perform at clubs and festivals throughout the United States.
