The Outernational Music Festival featuring Gnarls Barkley and Thievery Corporation is coming to the Mandalay Bay Beach Saturday, June 21. The concert, scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m., is sponsored by ABSOLUT® Vodka and will highlight the brand's commitment to creating awareness for ABSOLUT Global Cooling™, a national campaign which encourages consumers to reduce the effects of global warming by offering simple steps they can implement in their daily lives.
Tickets priced at $75, not including applicable fees and taxes, are now on sale and available at the Mandalay Bay box office and at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith's Food and Drug Centers, Macy's West at the Fashion Show Mall and Ritmo Latino). Gnarls Barkley is the chart-topping, Grammy-winning, genre-busting combination of artist/producer Danger Mouse and vocalist Cee-Lo Green. The duo made history in 2006 with "Crazy," the first song in history to hit No. 1 through downloads alone. The new album, The Odd Couple, debuted to massive critical acclaim and reached No. 1 on iTunes. The group is known for inventive, unpredictable live performances featuring festive costumes, counterintuitive cover versions and other surprises.
Formed in the summer of 1995 at Washington, D.C.'s Eighteenth Street Lounge, Thievery Corporation, featuring Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, caught the ears of underground DJs with their first two offerings, "Shaolin Satellite" and "2001 Spliff Odyssey." Their 1997 debut LP, Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi, began to define a new genre of electronic music and connect with an international community of like-minded souls. Though the terminology has varied (down tempo, chill out, leftfield and a myriad of other permutations), they have been at the top of their game ever since.
