"We are so excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands," said Mötley Crüe band member Nikki Sixx. "There isn't a lot Mötley Crüe hasn't done so to say this summer's festival is going to be about rock 'n roll excess is an understatement."
Mötley Crüe also has announced that on June 17 they will release Saints of Los Angeles, their first studio album recorded with all of the original band members in more than a decade. Lyrically, the new album follows the story of the band's NY Times best-selling memoir The Dirt, a no-holds-barred, tell-all that features every detail of the band's exploits.
Along with Mötley Crüe, there is an impressive line-up awaiting the tour which will include special guests Buckcherry and Papa Roach. Buckcherry, a Grammy-nominated hard rock and glam metal band, formed in 1995 and released two albums – 1999's eponymous debut and 2001's Time Bomb – before dissolving in 2002. In 2005, Josh Todd (lead vocals) and Keith Nelson (guitar) created a new band using the Buckcherry moniker and in April 2006 released a new album, 15. It spawned Buckcherry's biggest crossover hits to date, "Crazy Bitch" and the band's first Hot 100 Top 10 hit, "Sorry."
Papa Roach is a four-piece rock band from California that broke into the mainstream with Infest, their major-label debut album in 2000 which went platinum three times. The group's success continued with later releases Lovehatetragedy (2002) and Getting Away with Murder (2004). The group's fourth major album, The Paramour Sessions, was released in September 2006.
Official partners for Crüe Fest '08 include JVC Mobile Audio, MTV's Rock Band, Best Buy, Fuse TV, Lotus, and TheRockvine.com. A special Crüe Fest CD featuring tracks from all of the bands on the tour will be available exclusively at Best Buy beginning June 17. JVC Mobile Audio premiered a viral video featuring Josh Todd of Buckcherry and Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach having an "experience" in a car surrounded by the latest JVC audio/visual technology, a cast of beautiful women and a collection of soap bubbles.
