This Halloween, Sushi Roku offers some creative menu items for the frightening holiday. Guests can enjoy the Sushi Roku Jack O'lantern along with the scary scrumptious shot Okiku.
Sushi Jack O'Lantern Recipe:
Rice ball wrapped with 2 slices salmon sashimi with Nori (seaweed) eyes and mouth.
Okiku:
Created by Brett Coleman, assistant general manager at Sushi Roku
1 ½ ounce of TYKU (premium liqueur with Sake)
½ ounce Baileys
4 drops of Rose's Grenadine
This shot is named after a famous Japanese ghost, Okiku, who is a maid at the mansion of the Japanese samurai, Tessan Aoyama. The samurai wants to seduce the cute girl but she rejects his advances. Aoyama decides to use a trick by hiding one of ten valuable Dutch plates and threatening to publicly blame Okiku for stealing the plate unless she agrees to become his mistress. In her desperation, Okiku throws herself into the well and drowns.
The shot is served on her hand coming out of the well, hence the hand rising out of the fog.
