For the first time in U.S. Open history, the 2007 format featured one combined class comprised of the Supercross class racers and the Lites class riders.  Yamaha's Grant Langston of Clermont, Fla., fresh off his first AMA Motocross National championship, captured his first overall U.S. Open victory with a second place and a fifth place finish, respectively, over the two days of racing inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  Honda's Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, won the main event as a Lites class rider, defeating the impressive lineup of premier-class riders.

"We have invited the best of the best this year, and I look forward to seeing which lites riders step up in the way that Jake Weimer did last year when he won Saturday night's main event," said Dave Prater, director of Supercross, Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc.  "Year in and year out, the U.S. Open has proven to be one of the most competitive races and 2007 was no different as the two nightly winners, Chad Reed and Weimer, were defeated by the more consistent Grant Langston."
