The public is invited to participate in the first annual Centennial Hills Triathlon, set to begin Saturday, April 5, at 8 a.m. at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center and the Centennial Hills Community Center, operated by the YMCA. Registration for the event will be open through Friday, March 21, for everyone age 7 and older. Priced at $35 per person, the event will include swimming, running and bicycling for ages 13 and older. Youth ages 7 to 12 will swim, run and jump rope. Each participating athlete will receive a T-shirt, certificate and medal. Neither YMCA nor Centennial Hills Active Adult Center membership is required. The centers are located at 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.


During this inter-generational event, participants will compete in their age and gender divisions. Divisions include ages 7 to 9, 10 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and 60+.  Children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Those ages 49 and younger must register with the YMCA by calling (702) 478-9622. Those ages 50 and older must register with the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center at (702) 229-1702.


The event is sponsored by the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services and the YMCA. The Centennial Hills Active Adult Center regularly offers special events, Nintendo Wii sports, AARP safe driving courses, social groups, an Alzheimer's and dementia support group and a variety of exercise, fitness and sports classes.
