Successful fashion and commercial photographer Jerry Metellus is proud to debut his chic art exhibit featuring dancers from Nevada Ballet Theatre at the Sahara West Library on October 16. Entitled "Moshion" to signify the blending of movement and fashion, the exhibit displays the talented artists in mid-air, donned in the latest clothing trends.
Debunking the myth that ballet dancers are all about tutus and tights, Metellus's venture illustrates the trendy side of our state's largest professional ballet company, with graceful artistry. The models were selected from an elite group of principal and soloist dancers in Nevada Ballet Theatre's company and instructed to perform energetic and dynamic dance movements, such as jumps and leaps, for the camera. Out of the two daylong photo shoot sessions, Metellus developed approximately 30 revolutionary images capturing dancers in full motion.
"Out of all my various projects, this is the work I am most proud of," said Metellus. "I had the opportunity not only to work with a group of impressive artists, but ultimately to pay it forward by turning the photographs of 'Moshion' into a public exhibit and hopefully a future fundraising opportunity for the ballet company."
"Moshion" will be on display in the Grotto room at the Sahara West Library, located at 9600 W. Sahara Avenue, from October 16 – January 15, 2008. Admission to the exhibit is free.
New York-born fashion photographer Jerry Metellus has worked with a veritable "who's-who" list of clients from around the world. Among other international subjects, Metellus' client list includes Gibson guitars, TV Guide, MTV, Comedy Central, the MGM Grand and Cirque du Soleil.
