Findlay Chevrolet's Extreme Thing 2008, sports and music festival roars back for the 13th year, with a lineup featuring concerts, professional BMX and wrestling demonstrations and skate competitions. Extreme Thing, produced by Clark County Parks & Recreation and House of Blues Concerts, is Nevada's only premier action sports and music festival and is set for 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Desert Breeze Skate Park, 8275 Spring Mountain Road at Durango Drive. Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 day of show, if available. All ages are welcome.

Extreme Thing will feature bands Pennywise, Chiodos, Escape the Fate, Nonpoint, Streetlight Manifesto, Alesana and In This Moment along with a world class BMX Dirt Jump Competition hosted by local pro-rider Ricardo Laguna, professional wrestling by Adrenaline Unleashed and the Vegas AmJam Skate and BMX amateur competition. The XPOZ Zone will welcome seven to eight local bands performing in the smoke-free zone promoting the www.smokefreescene.com.   Pennywise, this year's headliner, hails from Hermosa Beach and cracked into the public consciousness in 1991. The death of original bassist Jason Thirsk in 1996 sent the band reeling, but it regrouped with new bassist Randy Bradbury for the album Full Circle. Since then, the band released Straight Ahead in 1999, Live at the Key Club in 2000 and Land of the Free? in 2001. After a brief hiatus, the band returned in 2003 with From the Ashes. The most recent album, The Fuse, takes politics, societal issues and pop culture and puts them on the chopping block. The band consists of Bradbury, frontman Jim Lindberg, drummer Byron McMackin and guitarist Fletcher Dragge.

The "chaotic mischief" of Escape the Fate returns home to Las Vegas for this event. The hometown band conquered crowds at last summer's Van's Warped Tour and sold out venues with bands Bless the Fall and Bullet for My Valentine. The group plans to release its next record this year, which Alternative Press magazine has called one of its "Most Anticipated Albums of 2008."

Nonpoint has survived ten years in the music business and paid witness to the rise and fall of trends, record albums and the "next big things." In the last two years, Nonpoint's music has appeared on television and film, including a remake of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" for "Miami Vice" as well as the movie trailer for Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse." The band is fit for Extreme Thing, as it has partnered with the WWE for a pre-Wrestlemania performance, and the song "Everybody Down" appears in the 2008 edition of the WWE's flagship video game "Raw vs. Smackdown."

The Alternative Press called Chiodos "an arresting piece of post-modern musical art," but it's nothing new to the fans.  Chiodos is supporting Linkin Park during its 2008 North American Tour, and its sophomore album Bone Palace Ballet debuted at number five on the Billboard charts last fall. The sextet includes vocalist Craig Owens, bassist Matt Goddard, keyboardist and vocalist Brad Bell, drummer Derrick Frost and guitarists Jason Hale and Pat McManaman.

Six old friends and once members of the New Jersey ska underworld, came together to form Streetlight Manifesto nearly seven years ago. The band is comprised of members from two popular New Jersey ska bands Catch 22 and One Cool Guy. The group was signed to Victory Records in 2002, and even though the line up has changed, the vibe of punk, ska and reggae band is still the same.

Born in the wake of hardcore rock in Raleigh, N.C. in 2004, Alesana brings a tenderness to rock music with its gut-wrenching vocals, emotion and "intelligent breakdowns." The band has appeared on the MTV Show "My Super Sweet Sixteen" and released its first national album On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax in 2006.

As a band, In This Moment takes its name as its mantra – five people trying to carve out a niche instead of waiting for one to come to them. The band formed in 2005 when Southern California residents Chris Howorth, guitar, and Maria Brink, vocals, met and crafted five songs, calling the project In This Moment. Drummer Jeff Fabb, guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Jesse Landry joined and the band signed with Century Media Records. The band scored single hits on Sirius radio from the first album Beautiful Tragedy. Organic buzz and tours with bands such as 36 Crazyfists, Dead to Fall, Walls of Jericho and Kittie are creating a wide fan base for In This Moment.

Only a personal bottle of water can be brought to the festival along with still cameras, sunscreen and cash, as there is no ATM on site and no re-entry. And array of food will be available, from barbecue to Thai, along with beverages. No alcohol will be sold. No animals, coolers, weapons or chairs are permitted.

Sponsors include Findlay Chevrolet , Jillian's Las Vegas, 107.5 FM Xtreme Radio, Red Bull, CityLife, My LVTV, The CW Las Vegas and XPOZLV.com.
