Fremont East Entertainment District And The Las Vegas Arts District Merge Beginning In March
El Cortez Hotel & Casino partners with First Friday, the monthly art exhibition in downtown Las Vegas, by becoming an official trolley stop for event visitors beginning on Friday, March 7. The trolley will stop at the Cortez Garden Gateway – already nicknamed by locals as "The Park" – the property's two-lane Las Vegas Boulevard entrance and pedestrian-friendly walkway. The Cortez Garden Gateway features traditional lampposts, planters and palms trees and caters to those looking to explore the newly revitalized downtown area.
"The merging of the Fremont East Entertainment District with the Arts District is an important step in reinforcing downtown as a cultural center of Las Vegas," said Mike Nolan, general manager of El Cortez Hotel & Casino. "Working with First Friday, we hope to help continue the revitalized interest in our city's artists, as well as increased interest in the architecture and renovation of classic downtown Las Vegas."
During First Friday, downtown visitors can view work from more than 100 artists including paintings, ceramics, mixed media, photography, jewelry, textile arts, sculptures and hand-blown and fused glass. First Friday is held on the first Friday of each month between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and is free to the public. For additional information about First Friday, please visit www.firstfriday-lasvegas.org.
