Honolulu 20th Anniversary Spectacular featuring Guest Celebrity Chefs Tops Off Series of Roy's Wine Dinners

Internationally-acclaimed Chef Roy Yamaguchi is celebrating his 20th year anniversary since he first founded Roy's in Honolulu.  He will launch a nine-city Anniversary Culinary Tour in Orlando, Florida on March 5 and will culminate with a 20th Anniversary Spectacular in Honolulu on October 4 and 5.  Making a special stop in Las Vegas, Chef Roy will mix and mingle with guests on April 8 at Roy's located on Flamingo.  Other Tour cities on the mainland include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta and Baltimore.

The 20th Anniversary Culinary Tour is a celebration of two decades of Chef Roy's unique and award-winning contribution to the culinary arts, known as Hawaiian Fusion® Cuisine. Chef Roy holds the distinction of being honored early in his career with the prestigious James Beard "Best Pacific Northwest Chef" award – making him the first award recipient from Hawaii.  A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Roy now serves on the highly respected Board of Trustees.  As testimony to his success, there are now 34 Roy's restaurants worldwide in 11 states, Japan and Guam.

"Since the opening of my first restaurant in Honolulu in 1988, I have always strived to create an alternative to the ordinary and the expected," says Chef Roy.  "It is deeply gratifying that the food I love to prepare has been embraced by so many throughout the world."

Over the last 20 years, Chef Roy has been blessed with many opportunities to share his passion for food and his culinary sense of adventure with thousands of people here and abroad, from royalty and celebrities, to tourists and Roy's loyal local guests.  His continued quest for new, innovative ingredients and preparation techniques has taken him to spectacular exotic locations, with his cooking tours through Thailand, South Africa and Egypt as well as Europe and the Far East.

Well-respected by the culinary profession, he has collaborated with many of his esteemed fellow chefs at charity and community events over the years to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthy causes.  Chef Roy is committing a portion of the proceeds from the Los Angeles and Chicago 20th Anniversary Culinary Tour dinners to the Grow for Good campaign that is projected to raise $1 million for Farm to Table, a national initiative dedicated to supporting local farms and encouraging sustainable agriculture.

"When I opened the first Roy's, I wanted to cook in a style that made sense to me. I used sustainable, fresh local ingredients and vibrant Asian spices. I feel so fortunate to have been able to make a living for 20 years doing something that brings so much joy to me, and hopefully to others as well." comments Chef Roy.
