The Liberace Foundation & Museum will present a "Celebration of Life" throughout the month February commemorating the Liberace legacy of showmanship and scholarship with special events, new "Bling into Spring" membership drive and Rhinestone Society Fund, launching on Feb. 3 to mark the 21 year anniversary of Liberace's final curtain. (February 4, 1987).
Liberace himself left an amazing and forever-lasting legacy in Las Vegas and around the world with his glittering Liberace Museum and his most important mission, the Liberace Foundation for the Performing & Creative Arts, which grants annual scholarships to students around the country. To date, $5 million in scholarships was been shared with almost 2,500 students at 110 universities and organizations in the U.S. In celebration of Liberace's Legacy, the following February events are scheduled:
SUNDAY, Feb. 3:
FREE LIBERACE MUSEUM ADMISSION for Nevada Residents & their Guests
AND
2:00 PM Music Concert (doors open at Noon), $10 admission donation to concert
The 2008 Liberace "Music at the Museum" series will present a chamber music concert featuring guest artists and UNLV professors, Wei-Wei Le, violin, Hanna Suk, viola, Andrew Smith, cello, and Mykola Suk, performing an all-Beethoven piano program. Beethoven's musical talents bridged the Classical and Romantic periods of music, dramatically changing the course of music history. Liberace himself was a classically-trained pianist and received a 17-year scholarship during his youth to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Public Admission to this event is a minimum donation of $10.00, with 100% of proceeds to the Liberace Scholarship Fund to help talented students pursue careers in the performing and creative arts.
Sunday, Feb. 3 – "Bling Into Spring" Kickoff of Liberace Foundation Membership Drive! Liberace's legend lives on in the Liberace Museum that houses his collections of rare and antique pianos, classic cars, famous sequined, bejeweled costume wardrobe, glittering stage jewelry, rare antiques, as well as his private papers and memorabilia. What better way to support the Liberace legacy than to become a member of the LIBERACE FOUNDATION. Members are invited to help keep the Liberace tradition alive through the Foundation's scholarship program, which assists young people to pursue careers in the performing and creative arts. The Liberace Museum is funded through admissions, contributions and the membership program. All new members or membership renewals at the $100 Bronze Level and above will be entered into a drawing to win a replica of Liberace's famous piano watch, made with Austrian crystals with 18 carat gold overlay on the watchband. Monday, Feb. 4 – 21st Anniversary of Liberace's Final Curtain (February 4, 1987 at age 67). Note: the Liberace Museum is closed to the public on this date; Museum is open Tuesday through Sundays in 2008.
