Cannery Casino & Hotel presents a taste of summer with the sixth annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival Saturday, June 14 at The Club indoor/outdoor festival grounds. Along with great blues music, the event will serve up various styles of barbecue from notable local restaurants along with craft brewed beers and hard ciders.

The festival hours are Saturday, June 14 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.

Cannery Casino & Hotel will offer a variety of craft and micro brewed beers and hard ciders. For those who cannot decide what beverages to try, the "Brews Sampler Pack" offers eight-ounce samples of up to ten different types of beers and ciders. The price of the sampler pack is only $20.

Several local restaurants will be serving up some of Las Vegas' best BBQ.  Participating restaurants include H&H Barbeque, Seven Seas Seafood, Smoke'n Sams, Mister Frosty Ice Cream and more.

There will be a special Blues Weekend kick-off concert Friday, June 13 at 8 p.m. featuring Michael Grimm and Jeneane Marie. Admission is free.

Raised in the swamplands of Hancock County, Mississippi by his grandparents, Grimm emerged from extremely humble beginnings to become a singing, songwriting and guitar-playing triple-threat of talent. Grimm got his first taste of national success at age sixteen, when he released the hit song "John Wayne and Jesus," earning him the CCMA Star of Tomorrow award in 1997. Grimm shares the stage with the incomparable Jeneane Marie, one of the most explosive singers in the entertainment industry today. Together they present their soulful interpretations of classic blues as well as original songs.

Saturday, June 14 will feature Charlie Musselwhite, Walter Trout & The Radicals and Ironing Board Sam as well as another appearance by Michael Grimm and Jeneane Marie.

Musselwhite's version of the blues ventures far beyond conventional honky-tonk, and the Harley Davidsons lined up outside Musselwhite's gigs testify that he has what it takes to rock the house. Musselwhite himself is simply interested in music with a feeling. Over the years, he has released dozens of albums and has contributed to countless others including Bonnie Raitt's Grammy® Award winning, "Longing In Their Hearts," The Blind Boys of Alabama's Grammy® Award winning, "Spirit Of The Century," Tom Walts' "Mule Variations" and even playing the driving harmonica on INXS' "Suicide Blonde."

Walter Trout continues to demonstrate his passion for music is just as great today as it was when he started his career more than 35 years ago. In the mid-1960s, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band featuring Mike Bloomfield cemented Trout's musical ambitions towards the blues genre and the electric guitar. In the mid-1970s, Trout developed into an ace sideman, backing California blues artists, often being the only "white boy" in the black neighborhood clubs. Before forming the Walter Trout Band – known now as Walter Trout and the Radicals – Trout played with musical greats such as Bruce Springsteen, John Lee Hooker, Coco Montoya and was even part of the blues-rock band, Canned Heat.

Ironing Board Sam, born Sammie Moore, learned to play on his father's pump organ and played in several groups as a teenager. Sam's confidence grew to the point where he formed his own band and in 1959, he moved to Memphis where he picked up his colorful "nom de disque." Sam did not have regular legs to support his keyboard, so he improvised and used an ironing board stand, which he hid with a drape. In 1974, Sam moved to New Orleans. Billed as "The Eighth Wonder of the World," Sam would lift the keyboard off its ironing board, strap it around his shoulders and walk through the club as he played. To this day, Ironing Board Sam continues to please crowds with his love for music and his great entertaining style.
