Only in Las Vegas does a 24/7 upscale bar and grill called Aces take on a "Pig Roast" Italian-style that can feed 600 people at a festive grand opening with all of the proceeds being donated to Child Haven.

Despite the cold and wind on Saturday night enough people came out and went inside Aces for the warmth, good food and drink raising $3,005 to benefit Child Haven for the holidays.

The Grand Opening included everything from the Bacardi Girls, the Miller Girls along with a special appearance by the Ferrari Car Club. The dinner and drinks were had for only a $5 donation (children 5 and under $3). A Plasma TV and two mini dirt bikes were raffled off. All of the funds raised were donated to Child Haven.

Chef Tony said, "I stuffed the pig and cooked it outside. The pig will be 160-190 pounds but once we stretched it and wrapped it I'm sure it was be 300 pounds of good eating. There was also penne pasta with pink vodka sauce with peas, onions and sausage as a signature dish. I also served Italian sausage and peppers, meatballs and potato salad. There was plenty of parking."

There was a mix of music for those willing to brave the brisk weather with five DJs and live singing. Chef Tony said, "Former News Anchor Cathy Ray who is now retired from Channel 13 suggested Child Haven as a charity in desperate need. This money will come just in time for the holiday season."

The county school facility for abused and neglected children who are ages 3 to 18 stay at Child Haven until they are returned home, placed with a guardian or transferred to state custody. The campus on North Pecos is divided into cottages. Andre Agassi donated $800,000 to help them build a school facility.

Aces Bar & Grill is  at Warm Springs Road west of Durango at El Capitan. Call 702-579-3330.
