Academy Award-winner and Grammy winner Robin Williams began his career as a stand-up comedian and has created a repertoire of indelible characters, first in the hit series "Mork & Mindy" and then in numerous film roles.  In 1997, Williams received Academy and Screen Actors Guild awards for his performance in "Good Will Hunting," having been previously nominated by the Academy for performances in "The Fisher King," "Dead Poets Society," and "Good Morning Vietnam."  Williams' many film roles include blockbuster comedies including "Mrs. Doubtfire," "The Birdcage," "Jumanji," "Hook," and "Night at the Museum"; darker roles in "Insomnia" and "One Hour Photo"; and the animated films "Aladdin," "Robots," and "Happy Feet."  He co-starred with Steve Martin on stage in "Waiting for Godot," directed by Mike Nichols.  When he returned to stand-up after a 16-year absence, Williams starred in the 2002 HBO special "Live on Broadway," which was nominated for five Emmy awards.

Offstage, Williams recently took his fourth trip to the Middle East with the USO to entertain the troops.  He also has been affiliated with Comic Relief since its inception in 1986.  To date, the overall efforts of that organization have raised more than $50 million.
