Hard To Get Las Vegas Shows and Show Ticket Tips:Buy well in advance, but remember: some tickets are not released more than three months ahead. Keep checking back. For reserved seat shows (most Las Vegas shows), the earlier you buy, the better the seats. |
What Is It Like To Live In Las Vegas? The Las Vegas area has 1.5 million residents, comparable in population to the Indianapolis, Charlotte, or New Orleans areas. Thinking that everybody who lives here lives on The Strip would be like thinking that everybody in Indianapolis drives race cars and everyone in New Orleans lives on Bourbon Street. In reality, people move here for the quality of life. The most popular areas to live like Green Valley, Southern Highlands, Anthem, and Summerlin are suburbs nowhere near The Strip. Business parks house companies that have nothing to do with tourism because of Nevada's quality of life and low taxes. For example, Citadel Radio (one of the largest radio companies owning over 100 stations in the U.S.) has no station in Las Vegas, but is headquartered here. Quality Of Life? You Live In A Barren Desert With Gambling and 24/7 Booze.Actually, we have the best of both worlds. We enjoy over 300 cloud-free days a year living in neighborhoods with parks, schools, churches, grocery stores, mini-malls, softball leagues and all the community activities one expects in a city this size. This is a mecca for those that like sunshine and the outdoors. Did you know that 45 minutes NW of Las Vegas sits Mt. Charleston with snow skiing in the winter, evergreen trees, and hiking in the summer? In fact, summer temperatures up there are routinely 30 degrees cooler than here in the Las Vegas Valley, providing a nice cool getaway. The summer is hot, but compare it to winter in cold climates. No matter where you live, there are months where more time is spent indoors. Golf and other activities are comfortable even on summer mornings. The upside of this is that we get summer weather (70-90 degree days) twice a year, both in spring and fall. We also have the world class restaurants, shopping and entertainment at our disposal. But contrary to what you might think, most Las Vegans only go near The Strip when they have friends in town. If they work in the resort areas, they just want to get home after they punch that clock and do all the normal things you do at home!
