If you are a first-time visitor and won't have a car, stay on The Strip and spend one evening downtown to get a feel for everything. First time visitor with a car? You can take advantage of the cheaper hotel rates many downtown hotels offer. The downtown casino area (known as The Fremont Street Experience) is a lot of fun, and you can get a decent room for the money.
