Red Rock Canyon

Located just a few miles west of Las Vegas and encompassing 197,000 acres within the Mojave Desert, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area [RRCNCA] is an area of world wide geologic interest and beauty.

The focal point for visitor orientation is the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center. The facility offers information and interpretation about recreation opportunities, wild horses and burros, vegetation, wildlife, geology, cultural resources and much more. Interpreters have created displays in the exhibit area depicting the cultural and natural resources of the Conservation Area.

Red Rock Canyon features a one-way 13-mile scenic drive that is open daily from 6 a.m. until dusk. Numerous stops for sightseeing and photography are available. Hiking trails are accessible from the designated pullouts and parking areas.

The scenic drive is open, generally, from 6:00am until dusk. The actual closing time of the scenic drive changes with the seasons. The Visitor Center and Book and Gift Store are generally open except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
